Collections
When it comes to your collectibles, peace of mind is priceless. Each collection is as unique as the collector, so the collections insurance advice you receive should be bespoke to you.
Unique and non-standard items
often fall outside of typical home insurance cover
Some collectibles can be difficult to value
because their value is driven by the demand for unique items
Undervaluing
your collection can put you at risk of being underinsured
What is collections insurance?
Rarefied and unique collectibles and collections often fall outside of the scope of a standard home insurance. To safeguard the things you love, be sure you have a specific policy in place to protect your collection against loss or damage, such as accidental damage, flood, fire or theft.
What does specialist collections insurance cover?
We’ve partnered with Hiscox, a premier insurer with a track record for understanding and protecting art and collections.
Our collections insurance key features:
- We will allow an increase in the total amount insured of up to 10% to cover any items you acquire during the period of insurance unless otherwise stated in the risk details. You must let your insurer know about the new acquisition within 60 of taking possession
- If an item is partially damaged and Hiscox agree to restore it, they will settle the claim to include loss in value
- There is cover in place for additional expenses which means Hiscox will pay the reasonable and necessary additional expenses incurred by you to avoid or reduce a loss of an item insured under this policy, if the amount of loss is reduced by more than the expenses incurred.
What kinds of objects does our collections insurance cover:

How much is my collection worth?
We always recommend obtaining an up-to-date professional valuation or appraisal of your valuables. If you collection is overvalued, you could be paying more than you need. However, if it is undervalued, you could be caught out and disappointed in the event of having to claim. We can help you strike the right balance and ensure you have the right collections insurance in place.
Our eco-system
In addition to collections insurance, we work with a range of ecosystem partners, people we trust and work with on a regular basis, who can also support you with:
- Art and jewellery valuations
- Art restoration
- Security
- Vaults
Tips for making a collections insurance claim
- Keep records of your items – receipts, letters of authenticity, valuations
- Take photos where possible
- Keep these records handy and easy to access in the event of having to make a claim
