The ABA Scheme - For retailers and collectors

Richard Thompson Insurance and the ABA Scheme Underwriters Hiscox recently sponsored the Champagne Reception Celebrating 10 years at Olympia. Visit our Flickr page to view photos from the evening.

We created the ABA scheme with the Antiquarian Book Sellers Association eight years ago to cater for the specific requirements of dealers and collectors of rare and fine books, manuscripts and allied materials.

Over the past eight years of involvement with the ABA and its members, Richard Thompson Insurance Brokers have built a comprehensive understanding of Antiquarian book dealing and are therefore able to design the scheme to provide broader cover than any other commercial insurance package available on the market.

Key Benefits include:

  • Full retail/sales price claim settlement
  • Deletion of average condition
  • Pairs and sets clause
  • World wide book fair attendance automatically covered
  • Books automatically covered whilst at outworkers premises
  • Books held in trust, on commission, on consignment or in joint ownership automatically insured

Current Clients of the ABA scheme include:

Bernard Shapero
"Richard Thompson always settles claims quickly and efficiently"

Clive Farahar & Sophie Dupre
"Our ABA policy allows us to trade, safe in the knowledge that our business and stock are fully protected."
