Fine art insurers find a new historical home

Fine art insurers find a new historical home Richard Thompson Insurance Brokers Ltd (RTIB Ltd), a specialist provider of insurance solutions for art and antiques, has recently completed a move to bigger premises as they begin a new phase of their development.

Occupying offices in Brooklands, in Weybridge, Surrey, RTIB Ltd is pleased to have found a home with a rich history or British firsts. Opened in 1907, Brooklands was the world's first purpose-built motorsport venue, as well as one of Britain's first airfields.

The two-and-a-half mile circuit, with its massive concrete banking was a groundbreaking innovation. While record-breaking events took place during the heyday of the racing circuit, aviation innovators moved into Brooklands too. Many of Brooklands original buildings and features have survived to this day, some as Listed Buildings or part of a Scheduled Monument.

Since those heady days, the 'wonder of the 20th century' remained a world-renowned centre of technological and engineering excellence. Even today, there is a spirit to this unique heritage location that endures.

Joseph Thompson, Managing Director of RTIB Ltd, says: "Brooklands feels like a perfect fit for our brand. Much of our work takes place within the field of heritage, so it's nice to settle somewhere that has such a distinguished past.

"Our business is growing and, with the appointment of Sandy Rich as our Head of Fine Art Insurance and the introduction of a new fleet of bespoke insurance products, this feels very much like a time of new departures. We hope to perpetuate the ethos of innovation that Brooklands is synonymous with."
